On the recommendations of 2nd Central Pay Commission in 1962, to provide a common education with common syllabus and curriculum to the children of transferable Central Government Employees including defence personnal, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, took over 20 regregomental schools run by defence establishments and converted into Central Schools in 1963. Later these Central Schools were rechristened as Kendriya Vidyalaya and these Kendriya Vidyalaya a meet the need of common education to the children of transferable Central Government Employees including defence personnel. The phenomial growth of KV is due to its popularity and rapid stride in all the key areas of present day educational reforms and has come to be recognised as Pivotal institutions, striving to raise the quality of education at school level.
